The Current‑Book

A communal log for every huddle

The Current‑Book is the living memory of a huddle. It is a shared document (physical or digital) where members record decisions, disputes, rituals, and the names of those who have floated.

What to Include

  • The huddle’s Charter (core intentions and meeting rhythms).
  • Notes from each Convergence (decisions made, proposals set aside).
  • Dispute resolutions (summaries, not private details).
  • Names of the departed (the Well of Names may be part of the book).
  • Celebrations – festivals observed, new members welcomed.
  • Mendings – repairs made, relationships restored.

How to Keep It

The Current‑Book must be accessible to all members. No single person may edit it in secret. If digital, use an open, version‑controlled platform (e.g., a shared text file with change history). If physical, pass it around at each gathering and have members initial their entries.

Below is a sample entry format:

Date: [day of the Long Drift, Year 1]
Gathering: Seasonal Convergence
Present: 9 members
Decisions:
- Next festival: Great Molt will begin on [date].
- New Current‑Keeper: Anya (term ends at autumn equinox).
Dispute: Two members disagreed over use of shared funds. Resolved by Small Float: they agreed to a monthly budget review.
Notes: First reading of the Well of Names – we added three names from the old huddle.

The Current‑Book is not a legal document. It is a weave of memory. Treat it with care, but do not let it become a wall. It serves the huddle, not the other way.
