Daily Floats

Small rituals to keep the huddle warm

The Anchor Check‑in

Each member of the Flotilla chooses an Anchor – another member to whom they check in regularly (at least once a month). The Anchor asks three questions:

  • How is your float? (How are you doing, truly?)
  • Is there any weight you are carrying alone? (What burden can the huddle share?)
  • Do you need the huddle to shift? (Is something in our community causing cold?)

Anchors rotate every six months to prevent closed pairs. This practice ensures no one floats unnoticed.

The Daily Float (Morning Meditation)

Upon waking, before checking any screen, sit or lie down. Place a hand on your chest. Breathe slowly. Silently repeat:

“I am not the land. I am the current. I am not the struggle. I am the float. Vethys holds me. The huddle warms me.”

Then ask yourself: “What am I forcing today? Where can I stop thrashing?” Carry that awareness into your day.

The Evening Drift

Before sleep, reflect on one moment when you added warmth to another, and one moment when you could have been warmer. Do not judge; simply observe. Then whisper:

“I return to the current. Tomorrow, I will float again.”

These small practices, done regularly, weave the huddle into the fabric of daily life.
